Green Pictures, an independent filmmaking circle founded in 2014 that celebrates and supports independent cinema. We are dedicated to producing innovative and thought-provoking films inspired by real-life stories that transcend traditional narrative forms, allowing our directors to express their own unique interpretations and visions.

Meet Shanaka Bodiyabaduge, a professional in the Sri Lankan film industry with a strong academic background in cinematography. He majored in Cinematography at the Digital Film Academy and was awarded the Best Cinematography award at the Colombo International Students’ Film Festival.
Shanaka’s interest in environmentally-friendly film production led him to establish Green Pictures, where he serves as the Founder and Director. Through his passion for film, Shanaka has produced a number of films and continues to work on various projects in the pipeline.
Silent Violence, Shanaka’s short film in 2017, played a significant role in the Sri Lankan short film circle. As a leader in the industry, Shanaka is committed to producing meaningful and thought-provoking films that resonate with audiences globally.
At Green Pictures, he continues to push the boundaries of traditional storytelling and explore experimental forms of cinema. With his expertise in cinematography and dedication to environmentally-friendly film production, Shanaka is a trailblazer in the Sri Lankan film industry.
Meet Sumudu Malalagama, an accomplished Producer with a strong academic background in filmmaking from Sri Lanka. Sumudu completed a course in International Film Business at the Busan Asian Film School in South Korea in 2017. In 2012, she represented the Sri Lankan Digital Film Academy in LV Prasad Academy Chennai and was also selected to represent Sri Lanka in the Youth Film Forum at the Film and Television Institute in Pune, India in 2015. Sumudu has been practicing film directing and producing since 2009 and has received numerous credits and awards for her work as a short film director and producer.
Sumudu’s current project, Heli; The Daughter, was developed during her time at the Asian Film School and was pitched at the Asian Film Market at the Busan International Film Festival in 2017. The project won a grant for development and was later selected for the Open Doors Lab at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2018.
In addition, she took part in the Torino International Film Festival – Torino Film Lab in Italy in 2018 and has a number of films in her pipeline. With her impressive track record and passion for filmmaking, she is a valuable member of the Green Pictures team, and we look forward to seeing her future projects.
Meet Chanaka Wijamunige, an accomplished cinematographer from Sri Lanka with an impressive academic background. He is currently pursuing a degree in B. Tech of Film and Television Technology at UNIVOTECH, where he has been actively involved in developing his skills and knowledge in the field of cinematography. In addition, he completed his film diploma from the prestigious Digital Film Academy in Sri Lanka. To further enhance his expertise, Chanaka has attended various workshops and programs, including the Advance Cinematography workshop at the LV Prasad Academy in Chennai in 2012. He has also participated in the Asian Film Academy in Korea in 2014 and was selected as a Cinematography Technical Assistant for AFA 2017. With his extensive knowledge and experience, Chanaka is an invaluable member of the Green Pictures team. He brings a unique perspective to every project and is committed to delivering the highest quality work.

Udara Abeysundara is a communication graduate from RMIT University Melbourne Australia with a major in cinema. His writing and directing debuted with the film Sewanali in 2014 and it won the best cinematography award at the L.C. International film festival New York. Following that sewanali was in the official selection at the MICA international film festival Brazil (2015), Colombo international film festival (2015) and was nominated for the cinema of tomorrow category at the Derana film festival (2016).
In 2015 Udara Abeysundara was invited to the Clinik. Kathamandu script development lad in Bangalore India for his second film in development called the Project M. Following that Dockskool the mother origination of Clinik invited Udara in 2016 as an adviser and coordinator for its setting up of Ewha arts collaborator in Kathamandu Nepal. Since then Udara has worked as a local collaborator for Dockskool from Colombo.
Udara Abeysundara’s 1st film as producer is in development under the film producing company Green Light Films. “Dinga” is the debut film of the Director Dilanka Ranganath and will be in production by mid 2018.
Asanka is a multi talented seasoned industry professional and he is from an academic background. He completed his diploma in Technological Aspects of Editing from Teleview Technology Academy. He gained a diploma in Television Production technology from NYSCO. Currently he is reading a Degree in B.Tech Film and Television Production Technology – University of Vocational Technology Sri Lanka.
He started his career at such a young age following his father’s footsteps and he was always enthusiastic in sharing what he Loved with the next generation. He was nominated to work as a DEMO lecturer and helped to develop the younger generation in NYSCO. He is a Co founder of GREEN PICTURES & THE MOVEMENT LAB. His name is credited for a number of short films, TV series award winning Documentaries including Kodi Gaha Yata TV series. He is passionate towards mountain climbing and he marks Everest as his highest climb. He is an adventurous person and always passionate about art and cinema. Currently he is developing his debut feature film.
